Instructor guiding a reformer Pilates class at Sink Reformer in Aarhus

It is not a crash course. It is not a weekend certificate. It is a serious, thorough grounding in classical reformer Pilates at foundation level, with the contemporary sculpting techniques that make Sink classes feel the way they do.

You leave with the knowledge, the manual and the confidence to actually teach.

What grounds this training.

Reformer Pilates was built by Joseph Pilates. It is a complete, logical system with principles, sequencing and real reasoning behind every exercise. Most of what you learn sits firmly in that classical tradition.

We train on industry-leading equipment, because how you learn to move matters. Proper Pilates, not fad fitness.

On top of the classical foundation, you learn the Sink layer: the holds, the pulses and the targeted loading that leave clients feeling worked in a way that builds real, lasting strength. You learn how to teach both, and how to bring them together.

Who it is for

Who this is for.

You have done at least 10 reformer classes. You love this method and you want to teach it properly.

You might be a movement professional who wants to add reformer to what you already do. Or you found reformer and cannot stop thinking about it. Either way, you are serious about learning it well.

No prior teaching experience required. Real commitment is.

I participated in a teacher training course where I was taught foundation-level Reformer Pilates. A fantastic course with in-depth, comprehensive instruction! A wonderful studio with skilled instructors and Authentic Reformer Pilates.

What you will learn

01The history and philosophy of Pilates

Where it comes from. Who Joseph Pilates was and what he was building. The six principles that run through every exercise. You cannot teach a method you do not understand. We start here.

02Anatomy and physiology for reformer instruction

The muscles you work in each exercise. How spring resistance differs from gravity-based loading. Spinal positioning, pelvic alignment, joint mechanics and shoulder function. How to read a body on the reformer. Applied anatomy in context, not a generic overview.

03Sink foundational classical reformer repertoire

Every exercise, taught properly: the name, the purpose, the spring set-up, the starting position, the cues, the common errors, the corrections, the modifications and the progressions. All of it documented in the manual you leave with.

04Sculpting and contemporary technique

The Sink layer. Targeted holds and pulses inside the classical framework, to recruit the deep slow-twitch muscle fibre that standard sequencing often misses. How to programme it, cue it clearly, and use it without losing the quality of the movement underneath.

05Teaching skills

Clear and precise verbal cueing. Hands-on correction done well. How to watch a class and see what happens in each body. How to manage flow and energy in a room, and give honest, useful feedback without losing the warmth of the space.

06Programming and class planning

How to build a session that makes sense, physically and rhythmically. The logic of classical sequencing and why order matters. How to write class plans, build a library of them, and work with mixed-ability groups.

07Modification and adaptation

Not every body is ready for the full expression of every exercise. You learn systematic ways to modify for beginners, for clients with specific limitations, and for pre- and postnatal clients.

08Your manual

Sink's foundational classical reformer exercises, fully documented: purpose, spring set-up, starting position, step-by-step instruction, primary muscles, common errors, corrections, modifications, progressions and teaching cues. A working reference you will actually use.
